The rental period is eleven (11) months – from 1 October to 31 August.

The rent for a pedal harp (46 strings) is £550, which includes a thick cover and permission to use the harp outside the home, and not just for examinations. You must provide evidence that you yourself have insured the harp.

The rent for a pedal harp (40 strings) is £450, which includes a thick cover and permission to use the harp outside the home, and not just for examinations. You must provide evidence that you yourself have insured the harp.

The rent for a harp without pedals is £250.00, which includes a thick cover and permission to use the harp outside the home, and not just for examinations. You must provide evidence that you yourself have insured the harp.

You may pay the full rent in one single payment, payable within one month of receiving the contract. It is also possible to pay monthly by means of a bank order which includes a deposit and specified sums over a 10 month period. The deposit must be paid within one month of receiving the contract.

The person named in question 2 of the application form is responsible for the safe keeping of the harp. You are not allowed to keep the harp at any address other than the one noted in question 2 of the application form.

The harp must be kept in an appropriate condition. Any strings which happen to break must be replaced only with catgut strings. The harp must be returned to the Association in the same condition as it was received. Neither the person renting the harp nor anyone on his/her behalf may change any strings unless they have full knowledge of how to do so. The Association recommends that harp strings be changed by a professional harp teacher or harp seller unless the Renter knows how to do so.

The harp user agrees to make satisfactory progress by having regular lessons during the rental period. The harp is for the sole use of the Renter and not any other individual.

 Any person authorized by the Association has the right to see or inspect the harp at a mutually convenient time.

The Harps Officer must be informed immediately of any accident or damage to the harp, other than broken strings. You should not tamper with the harp mechanism under any circumstance.

You may not, for whatever reason, lend, hire or sell the harp to any other person or persons. You may take the harp out of your home but not for any commercial use or purpose. The person responsible for the harp during the rental period is responsible meeting this condition – additional and appropriate insurance must be arranged for commercial use.

The Association may recall the harp at any reasonable time if it deems that any of the above conditions have been broken. For this purpose, the Renter authorizes the Association to gain entry to his/her house to collect the harp at any time.

The Renter agrees to insure the harp with a bespoke harp policy or as part of a home insurance policy. He/She must provide a copy of this policy before receiving the harp. The policy should be for a minimum of £8,000.00 and should cover any accidental damage to the harp.

If the circumstances of the Renter change for whatever reason during the rental period, full payment must be made for the remaining period in accordance with the conditions of the contract, together with any other additional costs incurred by the Association.
